Rhubarb
It's the third year that I have rhubarb in my garden and this year it is doing extremely well. A few weeks ago, I noticed this beautiful flower emerging from the plant. I know you are supposed to cut it off immediately, because it wears out the plant, but I wanted to leave this one there to see it evolving in a real flower.
And this is the result:
But now what to do with all this rhubarb? I immediately started searching for recipes. Last year, I made rhubarb-strawberry jam and this year I wanted to try rhubarb-apricot jam. Here you can see the end result, five delicious pots of golden coloured jam:

But there is still a lot of rhubarb to process, so tomorow I will be making plain rhubarb jam and a special dessert with rhubarb... What do you do with your rhubarb?

Enjoying the sun
This weekend we had the most beautiful weather. We spent almost the whole weekend in our garden. I find gardening so relaxing. It washes away all those thoughts that keep coming and coming. At this moment, I am outside typing this, enjoying the last bit of sun of today, because as of tomorrow, the weather will be much cooler again. I will leave you today with some photos of this weekend, all things to be grateful for:
1. breakfast with cereals and yoghurt:
2. blossoms of our apple trees:
3. seeing what those little creatures are up to:
4. mowing the grass:
5. making this heart of straw:
and there were even more things: having dinner with a good friend, getting an e-mail from a good friend from the past,...
Hope your weekend was also filled with lots of things to be grateful for!

Testing out the new camera
Yes, yes, I got a new camera: it's the Nikon D60! I am absolutely addicted to it! I would really like to learn more about photography, so I'm reading books and trying things out.
This is me with my new camera:
And here's a sneak peek of what I'm knitting at the moment:
A few weeks ago, our front garden has totally been redone and this is the result:
And I leave you with some spring pictures:

Gardening with kids
Recently I bought a book about gardening with kids. It is full of wonderful projects and I immediately went to the garden centre to buy some stuff I needed for the two projects I wanted to try.
The first one is a desert bowl with succulents. You take a big round bowl, fill it with sand and then put some small succulents in. Then you cover the sand with some coloured sand, I chose lilac. Finally, you put in some stones and you're done! It doesn't need a lot of attention as long as it is warm and sunny and you put it inside in case of cold weather.
The second project is a little pebble pond to put on your terrace. You will need a flexible garden trug. Fill it with pebbles and then put some waterplants in (like Mentha aquatica, Lythrum salicaria, Caltha palustris,... ). Add water, put some more stones around the plants and your pond is done! It's as simple as that! Make sure that there always is enough water in the trug, especially when it's hot.

The book has a lot more interesting and fun projects. How do these sound to you? A mini lettuce garden, hanging vegetable garden, butterfly bowl, bird mobile, willow hiding place,... it's almost impossible to chose which one is going to be my next project!

Welcome!
Hello everybody! I have been thinking for a long time about what I would write in my first post. Should I tell about myself? About my adorable kids? Should I show you something I made recently? I decided not to do any of these, but to just show you what I found in my garden today, those little things which let you think about fun and relaxing moments.
I certainly hope you will enjoy my blog as much as I do! I have been reading a lot of craft blogs lately and I just couldn't postpone anymore, I also wanted a blog of my own to become a part of this wonderful crafting community out there and to show you the ways I try to be creative in life: gardening, crafting with my kids, baking,...
Ow yes, forgive me if my English is not correct, I am from Belgium and English is not my native language, so I'm very sure that sometimes my sentences will sound weird to you.
